Military Squad in WoodDear Visitor,

there are many ways to win a round. Here you can find some awesome strategies how you can knock out the enemy.
These strategies are proved by us and they work, as long as you are doing it correctly and your whole squad works together.

In this article we list more simple techniques to make the life of your enemies harder.

Special Squad Strategies

Spawn-Rush

Depending on the Game-Mode this is more or less useful

It's recommended to use a Quad. The speed and handling is the best for fast land movements in Bad Company 2.
One or two Squad-Members using a Quad to break throigh the lines. After they are save, the rest of the team spawns directly behind the enemy lines and can do their work.
Even when you are detected, you are too fast to get shot. Would be bad luck.

Better is, when 2x one Squad member drives with a 2x one Quad trough the lines. Of course, it would make sense to drive 4x one Quad, but this tatctic should be to save tickets.
There are still some more variations like 1 Quad with two members breaking through and the co-drivers jumps out on a relevant objective, the rest spawns on him. The driver itself continues his way, so the rest of the team can spawn if they got killed.

 Vehicle-Rush

On some Maps ou have many armored vehicles. When your squad is well equipped, you can rush with two tanks and two engineers to repair. the enemy will expect the tanks, but not the teamplay Make sure the tanks are near, so a) the engineers are better protected and b) the enemy will never make sure which tank they want to kill at first. thes cannot communicate so it could happen only one tank is the enemy's target and for thiis case you have two engineers.

Transport-Helicopters

This strategy is a little bit dangerous. We used it the first time in the game "Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising" from Novalogic. It was quite easy to rush the enemy because they have never expected 10 guys jumping out with parashutes. ;-)
Same in BC2. Of course, you have not the freedom like in JointOps (nearly unlimited map size), but you can use your parashute as you will. Important is that your whole team is inside. It could sound like a waste of tickets, but only if one of your squad reachs the ground, the rest can spawn on him. So you are directly behind enemy lines.
This strategy doesn't makes sense in the first few minutes of the map because the enemy is still in their base. ;-)

C4/Explosives

Typical use

Currently C4 isn't used much, mainly players use it to destroy tanks. But this is a very dangerous task, as you have to leave your cover.

Why dangerous?

  1. Most tank drivers use the external view (permanent or they switch between normal and external view). This allows them to see you on the side of your tank, even when they look at a total different direction. Look for servers with “external cam off” to avoid this.
  2. Vehicles can unlock a modification that automatically spots enemies in a range of 20meters. If the vehicle has this modification in use, you appear on his minimap when you are in the 20m radius.

How much C4 is needed to destroy an objective?

Afaik you need 10 or 12 packages placed directly at the objective to destroy it. So it’s much easier to destroy a building instead (in case the objective is inside a building)

How much C4 is used to destroy a building?

  • If you place all C4 at one place: not tested yet.
  • If you place C4 only at the corners: not tested yet.
  • If you place C4 only at the walls inside: not tested yet.

How much C4 is used to destroy a tank?

Afaik 2 are needed, no matter where you place it, but this needs to be verified.

C4 on tanks

If you want to use the tank yourself: stupid.
This is done to make the tank a death trap: you drive it near enemies, jump off and leave. Enemies think you are a coward, enter the tank and you detonate it.

Quads & UAVs (+ C4)

One of our special strategies: C4 on Quads or UAVs* (*not tested yet).
Just let a Recon place some C4 on your Quad and drive it to the next target/objective. Very effective to destroy a house or objective. The quad is too fast to get shot by astonished enemies.
Same could work for UAVs. We haven't tested it yet but we all have the same oppinion: You can do nothing with the UAV on the regular way. It gets shot down so quickly, we should only use it for alternative strategies.
Theoretically, you just place some C4 on it and crash into the next objective or target. Of course, when you shoot the C4 the drone is destroyed directly, but it is no lost of a ticket. Just try it and let us know the result.
Very few players lay traps with C4… they place it on spots where they expect enemies to come/drive by and detonate the C4 from a safe and distant spot.

Mines

There are different ways to use mines. The typical use is to place it on public roads where enemy tanks will drive over. Don't forget team damage. ;-)
But combined with Squad-Strategies (above) you do something more. Not only to place it on roads, you can destroy vehicles directly in their base.
We know it's a kind of "Base-Raping" and maybe this results in a kick (on bad servers). Don't worry, just take a different one with better admins (see "Tutorial #1 Base-Raping").
The advantage of destroying the vehicles is, they cannot disturb your team while fighting your enemy. Armored vehicles are very powerful and if you have an advanced driver and co-driver, you have nearly no chance to crack it in the first minute. One minute means at least 5 tickets lost of your team!
So, when you destroy the tank in their base, they can't do anything, right?
