Battlefield Bad Company 2 calls it M416 (and many sites claim, it's a combination of M4 and M16), but this rifle is a complete new development from Heckler & Koch, designed to use parts from the M4 and M16 series.
The HK 416 was developed by the german manufacturer Heckler & Koch with support by the US Delta Force. It is designed to use parts from other weapons (especially the stock and trigger group from the M4) and combine it with the new parts from the HK 416.
Who uses it?
Afaik the special forces chose to switch to the HK 416, but then the US Army decided, that the special forces have to use the M4 instead of the M416. According to this source (link), the AWG (Asymmetric Warfare Group)
Games:
This rifle is called "M416" in Battlefield Bad Company 2 (it says, this is a combination of the M4 carabine and the M16 assault rifle).
